In 2003, the bear market turned on a six pence and prices moved steadily higher in a new and powerful bull market.

This time around may be different and shares may need to build a bigger base before the bull market takes off into the stratosphere.

The economic patient is still convalescing after a severe bout of economic pneumonia.

It would be unreasonable to expect anything other than slow recovery in both the underlying economy and the stock market with moments when the patient still feels decidedly under the weather.
