A tale of two software companies

This is an unusual technology company in that the founder and chief executive is both a bona fide boffin and a brilliant businessman.

Under his leadership, a company that started life in 1996 and floated in 1998 has grown turnover from $8.8m in 1998 to 4,343m in 2007, a compound annual growth rate of 44.2 per cent.

In the process the company has become highly profitable, with pre-tax profits growing from $8.58m in 2004 to $91.5m in 2007.

Further strong growth is expected as the group has won a string of orders in recent months and said on 7 July that second quarter revenue and profits, to be reported on Monday, 21 July, had beaten analysts’ estimates.
