Has the property doom hit your neighbourhood?
Did Bob really pay “his weight in gold” for that two bedroom hovel next door.

If you’ve opened a newspaper in the last few weeks you’ve no doubt read all about the plight of UK residential properties.

“Doomed”, “plummeting” or “in freefall” are just some of the terms being bandied about. But stepping away from the sensationalist hype, how is the recent property slump actually affecting your neighbourhood? Is property still soaring like an eagle there, or has the gloom well and truly struck home?

MyPropertySpy is a free site that helps you calculate the value of property by giving you details of all the transactions taking place on your specific street, district or town.

Many more functions

The site is also invaluable for people looking to purchase a house, allowing you to find out how much a property in that area really costs, rather than rely on what that sneaky estate agent is claiming.

Similarly, sellers can work out what price they should look for when putting their property on the market. And for the nosey out there, you can simply use MyPropertySpy to find out whether you really are keeping up with the Jones’, or if Bob really did pay “his weight in gold” for that two bedroom hovel next door.

So how does it work?

With MyPropertySpy, you can input your postcode to find details of all property sales in the immediate vicinity of your home, or you can use our advanced search to look up your district or town for a more general picture.

You can also refine your search by entering your street name or by selecting specific dates, tenure and property type. The search results will show the addresses of properties that have sold, together with the exact date and price.

MyPropertySpy adds data to its site as the Land Registry sends it through, although it can take two to three months for sales to be registered. This means that very recent sales may not appear on our site yet.
