Football credit cards can prove a pretty decent financial product, provided you use them correctly.
The first and most important thing to recognise is that affinity cards – such as football credit cards - are never going to be the best deals on the market (you can view the market leading 0% credit cards for new purchases and balance transfers here).
Rather, you are choosing it because you want to show your support for your football club. The good news is that there are a number of football cards on the market that are actually quite attractive, especially for balance transfers.

Get one year on balance transfer
Whether you support Chelsea, Liverpool, United or City, you can find a football credit card offering 12 months interest free on transfers with a 3% fee.
But if you are looking to switch debt, it’s essential you don’t put any additional spend on the card.
This is because almost all credit card providers have an inverse order of payments in place, meaning that your most expensive debt is always paid off last. So essentially you’ll need to clear your entire balance transfer before you can tackle your (interest-earning) new purchases.
If you do want to spend on your card – all football credit cards offer bonuses and rewards for doing so – the good news is that most charge no interest on new purchases for the first three months. This is by no means the best offer on the market, but as we said at the start, you chose this card because of your affinity to your club.
Just make sure you keep your transferred debt on a separate card.
