News and Fundamental Analysis:
Another facility offered by some brokers is access to the latest company news and announcements. The advantage of having access to such a news-feed is that you are able to make decisions based on the very latest information. You may also be able to download company reports and brokers’ research notes through your broker, though you may also have to pay more for this. You can also download many company reports from us.

Charts and Technical Analysis:
Some brokers offer free access to charts that show how a share price has moved over time. These charts can be very useful when deciding when to buy and sell shares as they provide some information about the previous history of trading in that share. Some brokers will offer more detailed charts than others, and may provide access to ten years of historic data as well as charts of indices.
The discipline of chart-based trading is called technical analysis. Traders differ in their view of how useful and reliable chart-based analysis is compared to fundamental analysis (the analysis of the business fundamentals of a company based on its accounts and the strength of its markets).
However, a great many traders agree that using a mixture of technical and fundamental analysis provides a better, more rounded understanding of the movements and value of a company’s shares. This can make a chart service a useful addition to a trader’s armoury.
